News Release

Thisbe Nissen brings a backwards uterus
to the launch of Word Smitten's impertinent Quarterly Journal.

Noted author of THE GOOD PEOPLE OF NEW YORK writes a contemporary short story containing entangled human parts
and weathered hearts for WSQJ's inaugural issue. Word Smitten Quarterly Journal launches in Winter 2004.

December 8, 2003 - St. Petersburg FL - Word Smitten Media, publisher of an online litzine (www.wordsmitten.com) announces the launch of a new quarterly magazine which may provide more than quality literature for its inaugural edition.

It may provide a lesson in human anatomy.

"For more than three years, we have been asked to convert the material on our Web site to print. We considered a 32-page newsletter format, but decided the magazine format is better suited to the material," Susan Johnson, manager of Word Smitten Media, who announced the new magazine.

"The publication's title is Word Smitten Quarterly Journal. We're very pleased that Frank McCourt and Thisbe Nissen are included in our 2004 schedule of venerable authors who are contributing to the new WSQJ."

"The only predicament we have is whether to include the entire title of Thisbe Nissen's great short story on our Winter 2004 cover. Who will it offend," Johnson says, "and why? And should our response be - why not?"

Johnson notes that the full title of Thisbe Nissen's story is WOMAN WITH BACKWARDS UTERUS SEEKS MAN WITH SMALL PENIS. "This is, after all, normal anatomy. And with the word in every third spammed e-mail that people are getting today, this may not be a cause célèbre, but much ado about small body parts, not great literature." Johnson added, "It's not as if we are featuring the universal pantomimic of the third digit on our cover."

Word Smitten Media, publisher of the Web site www.wordsmitten.com and the e-newsletter Storycove, projects an annual membership of 15,000 for the first year of publication, with a target of more than 60,000 subscribers by the second year, according to Johnson. "For a vertical market publication, which we are, those small numbers are very achievable," Johnson commented.

"We are a tight niche-within-a-niche. We report on the people in book publishing - and yet our site consistently ranks high in Google and Yahoo. If someone searches for literary agent Eric Simonoff, they'll find that our report on him -and his clients' projects-appears in the top five listings of each search engine. Within our niche, we provide the information for which people are searching every day."

The WSQJ launches in Winter of 2004 and is available by subscription through Word Smitten's online site, www.wordsmitten.com, and through direct subscription by writing Word Smitten, P. O. Box 5067-S, St. Petersburg FL 33737-5067. For more information, visit the Web site or call (727) 409-0500.
